眼看着4月就要结束了，5月1日将是下一个房租缴纳日，对于很多租客来说，仍然将是非常纠结、挣扎的一天。拿什么交房租又变成了一个大难题。
从疫情爆发以来，面临大范围的企业工业关停，加拿大失业人数超过100万，房租的缴纳成了大难题。
尽管各种“求租金减免”的呼声强烈，但统计显示，4月的房租缴纳情况并没有太糟糕，有85%的加拿大人都缴纳了4月的房租。
但至于5月？恐怕将会比较糟糕。
CIBC银行常务首席经济学家Benjamin Tal透漏，其中缴纳租金比率更高的城市是温哥华和多伦多等大区。有90%的租客都交了4月的房租。
这两地的房租缴纳情况较好，分析认为是BC省和安省都有相应的措施，辅助房租缴纳。安省租客可以申请该省的紧急援助金；而BC省则可以申请每月300-500的租金补贴。
截止到上周五，统计显示BC省已有超过4.5万居民申请了省府的租金补贴。
此外，BC省在疫情期间还禁止了驱逐令、禁止租金上涨等。
而为了能让所有租客都可以申请到这笔援助金，省府住房部（BC Housing）甚至表示，即使房东是未登记注册的“非法套房”出租者，也可以申请到这笔政府补贴。
BC Housing表示，有很多“违法套房”租赁是BC租房市场中的重要组成部分。对于申请租金补贴的所有信息，他们都不会与政府其他部门分享，因此，即使是非法套房，也可以申请。
