安省因新冠病毒而付不起房租 不会被驱逐

安省省长道格福特(Doug Ford)周五下午在新闻发布会上表示,“在新冠病毒大流行期间,没有人会因为付不起房租而被赶出自己租的房子,我们不会允许这样的事情发生。”

还表示,“我们会尽一切努力来确保照顾好安省人民。如果在新冠期间他们支付不起房租,那么他们也不会被驱逐。”

福特说,在疫情期间,仍然有工作的人应该继续支付房租,因为这是“正确的做法”,但是受影响而支付不起房租的人,也不会因此而被赶出去。

福特在发布会上表示,在困难时期,受影响而没有钱的人,那么,食物将会比交房租重要。并且,在面临财务问题前,医疗援助和基本服务才是首要任务,而不是房租。

在福特发表声明的两天前,政府已经宣布对受新冠病毒疫情影响的人提供关于还房贷月供的救济措施。各大银行表示,它们将允许客户推迟还房贷月供款最多六个月。

在安省省长新闻发布会之前,多伦多市长John Tory表示,他已经计划好将在下周与住宅的业主见面。

他说,“我认为,改变人们支付租金方式的权力应该属于省政府,因为房东与租客的法律是属于他们的。”他还表示,他将与业主会面,无论如何都要确保能为租客提供更多选择。

John Tory表示,“我们正在考虑其他可以采取的措施,以帮助陷入困境的人们。”

并且多伦多市长John Tory表示,希望房东能在这困难时候做到换位思考。

安省与联邦政府“携手合作”

该省上周宣布,将推迟发布全部预算,并将在3月25日发布缩减后的经济预测。

福特星期五表示,他的政府正在与联邦政府携手制定针对加拿大人的经济刺激方案,而安省财政部长Rod Phillips将在星期三提出他的经济刺激方案。

财政部长Rod Phillips 3月13日表示,该省的全部预算将于今年秋天公布。

Canadian Citizenship Course
